The European Commission adopted a Code of conduct on countering illegal hate speech online. Major internet providers agreed to review notifications for removal of illegal hate speech and remove or disable access to such content. NGOs were accepted as trusted flaggers to notify the companies of alleged illegal hate speech content and report to the Commission on the reactions. The Commission reported publicly on the results. The presentation would elaborate on how effective the operation of this Code has been in Europe in combating antisemitism online and whether it could work for Canada.
