Jewish organizations are increasingly taking efforts to become more welcoming and inclusive to queer people, which means not only creating safe spaces in our communities, but also creating a safer world. In the spirit of this call to action, the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) created an LGBTQ+ Advisory Council to help guide the national Jewish community’s response to LGBTQ issues in Canada and worldwide, and to foster connections between the Jewish and queer communities at a local level. In this workshop, participants will learn about policy issues the Council is addressing, explore intersectional issues surrounding Canadian Pride politics and Jewish communities, and discuss ways to strengthen, support and engage the LGBTQ2SA Jewish community in Vancouver.
